Does it Matter?

Video of Susan’s Testimony

Susan’s Blog

Romans 10:1 “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.” NKJV

Life Lesson: We should desire that others follow Jesus and find love and forgiveness.

The summer twilight breeze carried the scent of distant rain.  The beach was pressed in the white noise of water cresting – spilling in against its surge. Sea foam soda-pop-fizzed then went missing leaving its briny deposit.  A businessman, phone in hand to ear watched a young boy knock about on the beach tossing starfish back to their home.  Like the night sky that was quickly appearing, hundreds of starfish spotted the sand and one by one the boy picked them up and threw them back into the water.  Puzzled by his observation, the businessman ended his call and approached the boy.  “Look,” he said, “There must be hundreds of them. You’ll never be able to save them all.”  The boy bent down and plucked another from the sand.  Throwing it into the life preserving water he replied, “No, but I can save this one.”

We should desire that others follow Jesus and find love and forgiveness.  How can we be content when people are dying without the Savior?  Is it your heart’s desire to see people saved?  Does it matter to you?  It matters to God.

Who do you know that does not know Jesus?  Write down their names and commit to pray for them and invite them to church.

Dear Father:
Thank You for saving me.  Please give me Your desire for people to be saved.  Bring to my mind those people I know who do not know You.  Please give me the courage to invite them to church and open their hearts to be receptive to my invitation.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You Are Loved

Video: Meet Logan

Romans 9:25-26 (As He says also in Hosea) “I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved.”"And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, ‘ You are not My people, ‘There they shall be called sons of the living God.”
NKJV

Life Lesson: God is love. You are loved.

Paul is pulling verses from the book of Hosea, a “minor prophet,” with a major league message. Hosea was guided by God to marry a prostitute named Gomer. She left the lifestyle; they grew in love and established a family. Soon, though, she returned to her former practice. Time and again, she would come back to Hosea only to abandon him for another. One day she chose not to return. Hosea searched high and low and when he found her, she was for sale in a slave market. In an outpouring of his undying love, Hosea paid the price and purchased her back. It is an incredible story of unfaltering love and loyalty and is an eloquent rendering of God’s never-ending love even when His people turn to idols.

1 John 4:16 “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him.” NKJV

God sees our faults and loves us. He finds us slaves of sin and frees us. When we go back to the chains, Jesus doesn’t turn His back, but holds out His pierced hands. “I love you, and I miss you.” Friend, have you wandered off? God’s heart for you is restoration and love. What will you do?

Dear Father:

Thank You for Your love. Lord, at times I will admit, I feel like a slave to my sins. Thank You for looking past my faults and freeing me of my sins. Remind me when I see the faults of others, to examine them with Your unfaltering love and loyalty toward them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Choices

crossroadRomans 9:17 “For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” NKJV

Life Lesson: God wants to reveal Himself through us to the world.

Our decisions can lead to good things or they can lead to bad things. Now, you probably think that I’m about to make an appeal for any non-believer reading this message to accept Jesus. Well, in a way I am, but in a roundabout kind of way. You see, I’m writing specifically to you, Christian, because the choices you make may determine whether or not someone else chooses to accept Jesus. Do you speak to others about Jesus? That’s an obvious way that our choices can influence decisions for Christ. We can never know how far our choices in the form of words or actions travel. If you have children, you may have already learned this. If you don’t have children, ask someone who does.

The book of James tells us that the words we consider to be of little consequence have the power to destroy and that our actions are the showcase of our faith. Take a moment and think of the people in your life who don’t know Jesus. What part are your words or your actions playing in the choice they are making?

Dear Father:

Thank You for Your grace and mercy. Lord, help my choices and my actions influence others to know Jesus. Please forgive me for times when I’ve been careless in my choices, words or actions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Fishers of Men or Keepers of the Aquarium?

Please Watch This Video – Penn Says: A Gift of the Bible

Studio shot of a fish in bowl

Romans 9:6-7 “But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” NKJV

Life Lesson:  The gospel is not a treasure to be stored but a gift to be shared.

Never before has Christianity been so accessible within the United States.  Just walk a few blocks down any city street and you will pass a church.  Take a drive down any country lane and you will find chapels and churches satisfying the scenery.  Christian radio and television are making waves while religious readers have easy access to the latest best- seller.

So why are so many starving for Jesus?  Well friend, the mantra of the modern Church has become self-improvement, self-empowerment and self reliance. In effect, this leaves multitudes drowning in a sea of self-centeredness.

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 “in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power” NLT

This situation is serious.  Many Christians have become so self-centered that they think about no one else.  They do not comprehend the consequences of hoarding the Good News.  The light we have received is desperately needed by others, yet so many “saved” will never know the joy of sharing it.  If we really believe what we lay claim to, how can we be ok with letting someone perish?  It goes beyond indifference or fear of rejection; it is either unbelief or hatred.  How much do you have to hate someone to let them go to hell?  I’m not ok with it and never will be.  Won’t you join with me in living to tell what Jesus died to say?

Calvary Chapel of the Triad will be a lighthouse to all who are lost.  We will not hoard the Good News of Jesus Christ.  With determination, this body of believers will take the gospel in every corner of the world until the return of our Lord Jesus.  Won’t you partner with us and play a part in reaching the whole world?  You may do so by clicking here. Every dollar you donate is an investment in someone’s eternal destination.  Thank you.

Dear Father:

Thank you for the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you for the freedoms of owning a Bible and being a part of a church home. Lord, forgive me for the times I have been self-centered and thoughts only of my own salvation. Please show me the opportunities to tell someone about You. I want to join in the joy of reaching others with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
